Senior Marketing and Communications Consultant
Wendy grew up in a college town and has spent the last two decades serving public institutions with all aspects of marketing and communications from recruitment to alumni affairs and everything in between. She most recently served her alma mater, the University of Georgia, as the chief of staff for the division of marketing and communications. During her 13 year tenure at UGA, she managed or led major projects such as extensive market research, the strategic branding initiative and unit sub-branding, analytics and measurement, integrated communications, promotional video development, multi-day marketing and communications conferences and started UGA’s first central social media efforts.
Prior to joining UGA, Wendy served as the director of public relations and alumni affairs at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, AL. At SSCC, she was intensively involved in enrollment management and workforce development in additiona to her PR and advancement duties. Wendy got her first taste of recruitment at the University of Alabama – Birmingham, and then at the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) where she worked on enrollment publications and later served as an admissions counselor for general students and as a specialized scholarship recruiter and representative of the college of engineering. Wendy loves to tackle big projects and brings extensive experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously and completing them on time, within budget, while exceeding expectations. She understands what it takes to produce and evaluate comprehensive, strategic communications programs and events.
She earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, and a bachelor’s degree in consumer journalism from the University of Georgia. Wendy recently completed a certification in web and social media writing for higher ed by Higher Ed Experts. Wendy and her husband David live in Statham, Ga., and they have two firecracker daughters, Maddie and Lily. The Joneses are avid college football fans – even though you will find them cheering for different teams on Saturdays in the fall.
